Has London Road hit your radar? The show was a bit of a smash over in the UK, where it picked up Best Musical at the 2011 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards and four Olivier Award nominations in 2012. Originally a National Theatre production, was recently made into a film that follows a serial murder case in England.
The composer used all found text/interviews from the neighbors in the case. But perhaps most interestingly, matched people's speaking pitch to the notes he ultimately gave them in the composition. This clever approach makes for an incredibly interesting watch. Take a peak at "It Could Be Him," where young town residents explain the paranoia that's set in over the town following the murders:
