This show's so cathartic to listen to right now
By Joanna Syiek (Director/Producer/Blogger)
We survived the RNC and the DNC. Congrats everyone. But it seems like every 4 hours Mr. YouKnowWho says or does something more terrible than his last offense. Republicans and humans everywhere are racing to distance themselves from the one-man train wreck. In the past few days alone he's received such compliments as:
"ignorant" | "sociopathic narcissist" | "someone who had tarnished the legacy of the Republican president"
#winning
And I found something that helps calm the feeling of "how the heck is this still a thing." A reminder that America has survived a terrible president before. And if we have to, we can do it again.
Play a little Mad Libs with the songs and replace Jackson by another name. And suddenly you realize that all of this madness is maybe just paving the way for some really excellent musical theatre in the near future. You hear me composers/bookwriters/errbody? Take copious notes of this moment in history because it's downright Bretchtian. And we're going to need art to soothe the wound either way.
And thanks, BBAJ. For making the media cycle more palatable this week.
